Who We Are

We back teachers and students in the
Alamo Heights School District.

The Alamo Heights School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was established in 1971 to support the Alamo Heights Independent School District and is operated by a staff and board of trustees comprised of parents, alumni, and concerned citizens. Initially conceived to oversee scholarships, the Foundation began to augment the curriculum and programmatic needs in the late 1980s. The Foundation’s focus has changed over time as the District’s needs have changed. At this time the Foundation actively raises money to provide funding for teachers’ salaries. Since its inception, the Foundation has provided $12 million in private funding to support teachers and innovative programs in the District.

History

The Alamo Heights School Foundation’s mission is to enhance academic excellence for every student with a focus on funding teachers and staff.

Since 1971, with the generosity of our community, the Foundation has provided millions of dollars to meet critical educational needs of AHISD as well as ongoing support of its teachers and students.

In the 1990s, the Texas Legislature passed school finance laws mandating that the more affluent tax-based school districts send a significant portion of their taxable income to the state for redistribution to school districts with lesser means.
