Debbi Chesney

Debbi Chesney ’85 has devoted her life to serving the Alamo Heights community through ministry and compassionate outreach. A lifelong resident, she serves as our Community Chaplain and has walked alongside many of our neighbors and friends over the years. She has been a true source of strength and love.

Debbi is who our community goes to—whether in crisis, need, or celebration. Many describe her as their “first call,” no matter the hour. It is rare to find someone who can so easily relate to all ages; from children to the elderly, she is a friend to all. Her ability to bridge gaps and build relationships is remarkable. Debbi is invaluable to our community in providing comfort, wisdom, and guidance when most needed, regardless of an individual’s faith or theology.

She is the first responder in countless challenging circumstances and continues to be a bright light everywhere she goes. She is that missing piece we all need in times of sorrow, but also in times of joy. Her humor and quick wit can instantly transform a room.

Debbi officiates funerals, baptisms, and weddings. She can also be found doing hospital and hospice visits or speaking at public events and Bible studies.

During her time at Alamo Heights High School, Debbi was deeply involved in student life, serving as a Class President, Student Council and PTSO leader, Honor Roll student, and our beloved mascot, “Caledonia.” She was recognized as Outstanding Mascot and nominated for Most Representative, Most Popular, Most Witty, and Homecoming Queen.

For decades since, that same heart for people has defined her life of service. Whether leading Campus Life groups for AHISD students, comforting families, or celebrating milestones alongside neighbors and friends, Debbi remains a steady, trusted presence in our community.
